Pond Skating

I love winter.
I love snow, I love hot chocolate, I love family time, and I especially love winter parties that combine all of these elements into one afternoon of skating + fun.

An afternoon spent twirling around an outdoor skating rink followed by an evening of sweet treats around the campfire? That sounds like perfection in my mind.

I especially enjoy how easily this activity could be adapted to include the whole family. (The sweater-clad sweeties featured here look like they are having oodles of fun).

. . .

For some wintery fun of your own, check out my favourite places to skate out of doors:

Sun Peaks (Kamloops) - Robson Square (downtown Vancouver) - Grouse Mountain (Vancouver) - Green Lake (Whistler)

I love skating but on a pond, frightening!
I do have to say, I am so happy winter is here!

The children and their little sweaters are enough to warm my heart.

Outdoor ice rinks, fires, warm sweaters, hot chocolate and snow make me wish I lived somewhere colder. Rainy Vancouver isn't very romantic...

These photographs are gorgeous. Now I want a winter party too.
Our Christmas icesaking rink opened this weekend in the center of town. I'm a terrible skater and always fall and hurt myself, but I just can't resist a few laps around the rink at this time of year.

Isn't it just magical? I love the lights and winter picnic!

Callie, pond skating reminds me of "It's a Wonderful Life" when the little brother falls in; however, it looks so fun here I think I'd be willing to try (as long as it's very cold out!)
