Friday Fun-day

Photo by ckmetrophotos via polka dot bride

B-squared and I are heading to the coast for some much-needed R&R and friend&family catch up time (and I.can't.wait.)

We're heading south-of-the-boarder for John Mayer & Keith Urban (with the The Avett Brothers!!) @ the Gorge. Hoping to also catch up with as.many.of.my.favourites.as.I.can.fit.into.one.short.weekend. Go!

I had a fabulous evening last night listening to the rain and sipping tea while browsing my favourites.

Topics of note...

What are you up to this weekend?

Bicycles.

Have you ever marvelled at the fabulous women riding bicycles on The Sartorialist as I have? If ever I had the urge to purchase one of these two-wheeled beauties, it's now. It's really too bad that I live on the side of a mountain... in a near desert. So: when we move back to Vancouver, I'm buying a bike. With a basket.

I promise only to wear the cutest of clothes and carry fun things in the basket like the occasional bag of groceries or maybe even a small dog (because that's just what you do when you have such a stellar bike).

Added bonus to bike riding: killer legs. Noted.

All photos, The Sartorialist.

eco shops for a cause

Although I am quite upset I'm going to miss this fabulous event, I would love, love, love, for you to attend. If you are passionate about environmental sustainability, fashion, and yummy smelling hair & skincare products and you're in the Vancouver area you need to attend eco shops for a cause.

The event is hosted by my favourite Vancouver boutique, body politic, with proceeds going to the David Suzuki Foundation. With the opportunity to shop some amazing fall lines, win some amazing prizes (Note: I've seen the swag they're giving away and it's impressive) and sip delicious wine, it's an evening you don't want to miss... oh, and it's tomorrow.

Check out the facebook event page for more information and while you're at it, enter the contest at Granville Online.

Psst... if you can't make it out, you can still shop online.

magpie's cake

One of my very favourite things about my friends: they always share their amazing finds with me. The following is no exception. (Thanks, Nicole).

Let me preface this post by asserting that I wish I lived closer to Washington DC or - at the very least - wish I could attend a wedding in the area. What I would give to view/taste one of these delicious pieces of artwork in person.

Ladies & Gentlemen: magpie's cake...

le sigh.

Oh to be gorgeous & graceful... if ever there was a woman made to be a bride it would be Coco Rocha. She recently wed James Conran on a rainy afternoon in France; their wedding video is nothing less than awe inspiring. (If you have the time, view the longer version, here).

Thank you, Jess for the link (via here).

PS: I, too, would be spinning in that gorgeous Zac Posen gown all night. Tres belle.

Ms. Luch

Please forgive me as I have a proud mama moment for one of my favourite people: Ms. Jessica Luch. She has recently shot her first wedding and I have the honour of sharing it here.

Tattoos, bow ties, and pink flowers = perfection.

I am so proud of this beautiful collection and I can't wait to see what else this budding photog has in her arsenal.

Please check out her work for more amazing photography {and her blog for lovely extras}

grey is the new black

OK - I am clearly in love with all things grey these days: I just painted our master bedroom charcoal, I'm using grey as an accent colour in the living room, and I've been attracted to every grey article of clothing I've come across lately! After discovering these gorgeous photos, it's clear that I'm swooning over grey bridal parties, as well.

Maxi Dresses, Floral Sashes, and Mix-Matched Heels: a trifecta of perfectly styled grey (not to mention a fabulous collection of accessories). I'm really digging the pops of yellow, too!

What colour are you lusting over today?

'The Notebook' Engagement Shoot

The Notebook. A film that made us smile, made us cry, and made us swoon.

Now considered one of the top love stories (& 'chick flicks') of all time, I find it incredible that no one has ever thought to style engagement photos after this classic until now.

The innocence and pure essence of the film is captured in this adorable couple so beautifully by Montreal's blushing bride studio. (More of this sexy yet sweet photo shoot can be found at Green Wedding Shoes).

If you were to style a photo shoot after any film, what would it be?

Bridal Party Style: It's all about the shoes

Photo by Nothing but Miracles via Carter & Cook Event Co.

I've often posted about creative ways to incorporate personal style into a somewhat uniform bridal party. Whether the bridal party is dressed in the same dress, different colours or different dresses in the same colour, it's always exciting to see how a bride and her favourite ladies are styled.

I love the concept depicted in this photo: neutral dresses with multicoloured bouquets and shoes that pull the look together perfectly. I know a few bridal parties that could have fun with this look...

I'm interested in hearing your opinions on bridal party style... do you prefer a uniform look or do you enjoy the mismatched-but-put-together style?

Ocean breathes salty... and beautiful.

I just stumbled upon these beauties from the ocean at the Hello!Lucky blog and I love them. Although any one of these unique pieces could be incorporated into a bride's look, I think it would be particularly stunning if each member of the bridal party donned a different necklace from the natural collection.
