The classically polished style of the 40's is the perfect inspiration for holiday party wear.
His:
Two Words: Frank Sinatra. The impeccable style of this crooner has transcended decades for a reason. There’s nothing more classic then a well-tailored suit [and the hat and vest to go with it]! Add a pocket watch and/or a trench coat and you’re well on your way, gentlemen. In the [spot on] words of Frank, himself, “you’ve either got or you haven’t got style, [and] if you’ve got it you stand out a mile.”
Hers:
Red lips, pin curls, simple eye makeup, laced, buttoned, or buckled heels and a classically-cut dress establish a style that is chic and timeless. Add a pair of gloves and/or a bold hairpiece and you’re golden, ladies. Style mantra, in the words of the queen, herself, “Fashion fades, only style remains the same” - Coco Chanel.

Their style is fantastic! And yes, perfect for holiday parties. E wore a vest (part of a three piece suit) and tie to a holiday party we attended on Saturday, and he was wanting to find a hat to go with the outfit, but we struck out in our search-- this photo makes me wish we had found one in time!
Love the tie&vest combo - it always looks so smart!
Finding the right hat is always difficult. Thank goodness for the Internet. (What DID we do without it)?
I have always loved the 40 style. My grandfather always dressed in style. I actually have a few of his hats that I wear lovingly!!

wow, joshua jackson has really grown up! (i feel so old).
the 40's style has definitely been nicely executed here.
Callie, I have one of my Papa's hats (an old kangol one) that I wear all the time, too. I love it. Don't you wish you could go back in time?
I laughed out loud when I read your post, Christina: yes, he has. Being a local Vancouver boy, I've always had a sweet spot for him (which started from the Mighty Ducks movies). Ha Ha.
Those two are too freaking gorgeous.
Aren't they, though?
