Bar Cart Love

Ben and I recently acquired this gorgeous vintage bar cart at a thrift store for a whopping $19! Although the brass needs some love and we're having mirror cut to cover the ultra chic faux wood trays, it looks like we'll be able to make our little cart over for under $100.

I am currently infatuated with bar cart styling and have flagged this article (featured on glitter guide last week) for when ours is ready to be put to use.

If you have a bar cart in your home what do you store on it?

edisen

Have you heard about the new online boutique edisen? Embodying the same vintage femininity of bridal lines like BHLDN, edisen offers an eclectic array of dresses, jewelry, shoes, and table decor. I already have my eyes on few early favourites including these flats + these earrings.

Vintage Wedding Love

If you haven't already seen (& swooned over) the photos from James & Aubrey's November wedding (captured perfectly by Brooke Schwab) I ask that you do so now as you will not be disappointed.

Although I don't know Ms. James personally - I've never spoken with her, let alone emailed her - I've followed her blog for quite some time. She pulls of vintage the way vintage is meant to be pulled off and her wedding embodies everything I imagined it would. And more. She looked stunning and her family, utterly adorable.

The full set of photos can be seen on James' blog Bleubird Vintage (part 1 + part 2) and also 100 Layer Cake (part 1 + part 2).

Vintage Inspired Farm Wedding

I adore all of the classic and romantic details of this farm wedding recently featured on Once Wed. Even the photography, captured by Tec Petaja Photography, has a glamorous vintage feel.

The couple was able to capitalize on the natural charm of the venue while personalizing the space with romantic lighting and whimsical, flowy, fabrics. These elements encapsulated their old school theme and unique vintage style. A perfect example of how a venue can inspire the overall ambience.

Oregon Roadtrip.

Ben and I are planning a September roadtrip down the coast to Oregon. We're in the process of flagging places we want to check out and I am mildly ecstatic to have stumbled upon the Monticello Antique Marketplace. This most certainly will be a stop on our way through Portland; we'll even be there for the Fall Premier Show! In all honesty it will probably be a stop for me while Ben and Bauer go for a walk... nonetheless we have a larger vehicle now which means I can bring some fun things home with me. How fantastic are those huge "d's"?

Have you ever been to Oregon? Where would you recommend stopping? Eating? Hiking? I'd love to hear your suggestions.

love + lace

This collection of editorial-worthy wedding photos has me swooning. I adore the bride's vintage style (complete with pin curls) and the groom's dapper grey suit.

Don't they look smitten with each other?

Wedding photography at its finest. Polly Alexandre, you are amazing. Check out the rest of the collection for more beautifully intimate shots.

Classy & fun, altogether lovely.

Old World Circus Wedding

If you haven't seen this beautiful wedding floating around in blogland, you owe it to yourself to pop over to JL Designs. Perhaps, it stems from my anticipation of the film adaptation of one of my favourite books; perhaps, it is my sheer love for anything vintage. In either event, I'm over the moon for everything about this wedding.

le sigh.

Ashely and Mike, a Victoria Wedding

I'm thrilled to feature this stunning Victoria wedding, captured so brilliantly by the talented Georgie Wilson. (The glowing bride just happens to be my second-cousin Ashely). I was so impressed with the vintage and romantic affair that she pulled together I just had to share it. A big thank you to Ashley for providing commentary for these lovely photos.

The dress. This dress has a beautiful story. Ashely donned the same dress that was worn by her mother and her grandmother on their wedding days. Ashely had the dress altered to incorporate her own personal style but maintain the original elegance. I think the end result was perfect.

The wedding date chosen by the couple is also special. Ashely describes the significance of the date: My husband and I decided to be married on, what would be, my grandparents 50th anniversary. I was honoured to not only to be the third generation to wear my grandmothers dress but to also share the same anniversary date as my grandparents.

The bridesmaids wore three different styles of Jasmine Bridal dresses. I love how the white bouquets pop against the navy palette.

Their ceremony was held at St. Ann's Academy, a National Historic Site. Isn't it a gorgeous venue?

These post vow shots are adorable. I love the one on the right!

Ashely and Mike with Ashely's Grandma Pat who was the first to wear this special dress. One of my very favourite photos.

I just adore the vintage Hollywood feel of this photo. Timeless beauty.

The flowers were assembled by the Maid of Honour's mum, and the bride's "second mother," Cathy. She did a lovely job.

White umbrellas add to the vintage glamour of this day. They are so pretty against the rustic red of the building.

Cheers to girlfriends.

Ashely found these adorable flats on sale at Aldo for - wait for it - $16!

I love these shots of Mike & Ashely.

The reception was held at the stunning Fireside Grill.

Ashely planned the entire day herself and set out to leave the guests remembering an intimate and romantic evening. She accomplished this by incorporating vintage elements like the typewriter that guests typed well wishes on and family wedding photos (that's Ashely's Grandparents, George and Pat, on their wedding day 50 years ago to the day).

The treat table consisted of cupcakes from Pink Sugar Cupcakes and and Norwegian desserts made with love by Ashely's and my Grandmas.

My Grandma and Grandpa at the reception. Aren't they adorable?

I love how Ashely describes their first dance: Our first dance as husband and wife was a blast. We took dance lessons together for a few month prior to the wedding and learned a routine to our song. The song we picked fit us perfectly- "I love you five times" by The Darkness (a British rock band).

I have to thank Ashely and Mike for sharing their special day with us. It is clear that their guests were treated to a very special evening that embodied the couple's style to a T.

Congratulations & love to you both!
