Ladies Lunch

What could be more lovely than a ladies lunch served al fresco?

Especially when it includes custom menus in lovely calligraphy,

amazing flower garlands,

a gorgeous rooftop space,

pretty, pretty flowers, and delicious treats.

I am in love with this concept by Sunday Suppers.
The menu sounds absolutely divine (girls, you had me at "Fried Squash Blossoms") and the ambiance: stunning.

What's more, is that they've graciously shared the yummy recipes. (Thank you).

Although it is technically "Summer" for another week, the chill in the air is enough to hint that al fresco dining is over for 2010. These photos will have to hold us over until next Spring... Happy Monday.

one.year.later.

Twelve months have past since they said their 'I do's' and ten years have passed since he + she became a 'we.'
It was my great pleasure to work with these two in putting together their magical wedding; it's our great pleasure to call them friends.

Happy Anniversary R + A.

All our love,

B + C.

I heart cake.

I also heart this collection of paintings by Paul Ferney (with art direction by the ever talented Jordan Ferney). I am smitten with the delicious looking paintings (+ their equally delicious quotes). Adorable.

I feel that B and I need one of these pretties... although it is so difficult to pick - just - one! I'm drawn to different cakes based on the associated quote. (I hope they're included with the canvas as I'd love to have it taped to the back, for fun).

Have a happy + sweet weekend.

2010.09.12 Update

We finally chose one and we can't wait to receive it! I'll post photos when it arrives (although B claims I won't see it until Christmas...)

DIY Bridal Shower

This bridal shower is packed with thoughtful, personalized details and brilliant DIY projects. I am taking notes as I sit on the bridal party committee of one.special.lady whose shower is quickly approaching...

The (lemon flavoured) signature cocktails, DIY vintage decor crafted out of repurposed materials, and homemade take aways are several of my favourite details exhibited here. That being said, my very favourite detail has to be her name sign and 'gift opening station.' What a lucky bride.

See the post on The Wedding Chicks for more ideas and details from this fabulous shower. Her fiance put together a thoughtful collection of songs to play in the background; each song with it's own personal meaning. Swoon.

White on White

Last weekend I had the honour of going shopping with my friend Amber for her wedding dress (or the "Whiskey-Delta" as it is sometimes coded around these parts). Although the weather was windy and cold, we enjoyed an afternoon of coffees + laughs and good old fashion wedding chit chat.

I was attempting to describe to Amber how beautiful white florals can look for both bouquets and centerpieces and - just my luck - design sponge put together a collection that brilliantly epitomizes what I imagined.

By selecting a statement runner (charcoal silver, in Amber's case) and strategically placed candles, these simple arrangements are a perfectly elegant table arrangement. I also love Amber's idea to include Tiffany blue pebbles or marbles in the water to complete the look and add the punch of their accent colour without being over-the-top blue.

More exciting inspiration to come for this wedding, too!

Thursday Truths

thx thx thx

I couldn't have said this better myself.

. . .

Well, September, here you are. You initially threw me off guard but I seem to have settled into your cool breeze and marvelous skies. Autumn always seems to creep up on me; however, I am immediately reminded how much I love this season.

Although - sadly - I am not heading back to school this fall, I am embarking on some creative soul searching of my own... starting tomorrow! The amazingly brilliant Kal has put together an amazingly brilliant course to help nurture creativity and assert a bulletproof positive attitude.

When I heard about this course my reaction was as follows: "Kal? Course? Creativity? Where do I sign up?" After hearing more about it, I couldn't be more thrilled to have the opportunity to unleash some of the creative randomness I have rolling around in my little brain. So, blogworld, get ready to witness a creative transformation that will no doubt guide this blog down new + exciting paths. It's Go! time.

The Romantics.

I was excited for this film as soon as I heard the cast. When I saw the trailer I was instantly smitten with the wardrobe and seaside setting. Needless to say, my head all but exploded when I saw the following collaboration with J. Crew on tulips & flight suits.

Check out J. Crew to shop the collection and the official site for showtimes and release dates (it opens in NY & LA Friday - I'm still attempting to confirm a Canadian release date)!

Bouquet Love

Beautiful flowers rule my world. I always enjoy finding gorgeous and unique bouquets, especially when they're sustainable (+ in one of my favourite colour palettes, to boot)!

Kate Morgan

Emerging talent alert!
I have had this catchy song in my head ever since the lineup of Lilith 2010 was announced and I was introduced to singer/songwriter Kate Morgan. Imagine my surprise when I found out she was from Kamloops... and only 17!

: : Have a listen: Lovin' You by Kate Morgan : :

Don't you think this song would be fantastic for a couple's wedding video?

Her EP is awesome and can be found in shops around Kamloops or on iTunes. This pretty young songstress is destined for greatness.

Gorgeous Spanish Wedding

I am not the first person to re-post photos from this wedding and I won't be the last; however, I haven't been able to shake the following images from my head since they appeared on Once Wed last week.

My favourite details? The bride's gorgeous braid, the bridal party dressed in grey, the dreamlike reception decor (I will never get enough of those lights), the whimsical bunting, and the hay barrel ceremony seating... among other fabulous details.

Coral

Jaime + Mike are currently experimenting with alternative colour palettes (I just love this part of the planning process) and have recently expressed an interest in coral. I love coral for spring/summer weddings. It's such a fun and playful palette!

I wanted to share some images to help Jaime and Mike envision their wedding party in this palette.

Isn't the coral absolutely stunning with grey?

These dresses are gorgeous; I enjoy the use of varying shades of coral, as well.

Another option would be to have the bridal party in grey dresses with bright bouquets in shades of coral.

This bridal party has also incorporated yellow into their bouquets adding a playful pop of colour (something to also consider, perhaps)?

This ain't your grandma's embroidery hoop

Is it just me, or are embroidery hoops everywhere, these days? Perhaps most surprising is how awesome they look; I'm really digging the fact that these wooden circles are popping up in the details of many whimsical weddings I've flagged as of late.

Martha featured a DIY guide for the following hanging hoops centerpiece. I really love the look and think it would be the perfect alternative to paper lanterns over the cake table/ candy bar or even above the head table.

The embroidered place cards double as a fun takeaway for guests.

Martha Stewart Weddings, Summer 2010

I love the palette and the graphics used in the following shoot; the overall effect is fantastically mod + whimsy. I particularly enjoy the addition of the black and white anemones: so fun.

Modern wedding shoot found here, here, + here.

One cannot post about embroidery hoops without mentioning Miniature Rhino. Jessica's fun shop is a legend on etsy and her work has popped up all over design and wedding sites alike. (Psst... I want one).
