neutral palette

There is something about Keri Russell's personal style that is so chic and so effortless. The 1860s Brooklyn brownstone that she and her husband gutted and then renovated exudes the same natural charm; I'm in love with what they've done.

Natural elements mixed with strategically-proportioned glamourous pieces (like this lovely chandelier) result in the perfect balance of masculine and feminine.

There are so many design elements that I love; however, my favourite room has to be the kitchen/ eating area. The dark reclaimed wood, light walls and exposed brick look amazing in the natural light that streams into the room.

What is your favourite element of this space?

Happy Mother's Day.

Apologies for being MIA as of late. Life... well, life happened. I'm itching to blog some truly awesome things so (please) stay tuned. Incoming magic...

Today, I must take a moment to honour my incredible mum. You've been through a roller coaster year and have come out of it stronger and wiser. I'm so impressed with your poise, class, determination, and - above all - strength. You are amazing. I love you so, so much.

Thank you for everything that you do. xo, C.

Happy Birthday, B. Thank you for laughing with me every day and for being the best life mate I could ask for.

Love you.

Earth Day

Happy Earth Day.

Today is the day we must all make a conscious effort to look at our day-to-day routines, habits, and diets to see where changes can be made to better ourselves and the world around us. There are so many simple ways to accomplish change. Empower yourself with the knowledge to move forward in your own home and share it with those around you. Start by asking yourself what you can give up...

Eggs of American Birds.

I'd love either of these prints any time of year, although they seem more than relevant this week. Don't these eggs create the most beautiful colour palette?

A Paper Record Player

When I first stumbled upon this paper record player invitation I thought it was merely a cool concept. Imagine my shock when I realized it was a functioning interactive invitation that plays.a.song. (Check out the video below if you don't believe me). It begs the question: What left is there to do with paper?

Genius.

What is the coolest invitation you've seen lately?

Confetti Eggs

I've been trying to fit in some background tidying on the blog; however, this idea was too awesome not to share.

Dying eggs at Easter is a traditional pass time in my house, although I've never had this much fun with them! What a perfect idea for a "big kid" egg hunt. Check out the fabulous DIY by Rebecca Wright on Oh Happy Day.

Rebecca describes them perfectly: Confetti eggs (aka Cascarones) are like mini pinatas for your head.

Um. How fun!?

I'm storing this one in the 'must try' bank for future Easters (& I'm already trying to brainstorm what other kind of fillings I can come up with)!

Lex & Berg Wristware

I love bold pieces of jewelry that can spice up a dress... or a tee shirt. The bracelets created by the talented duo of Lex & Berg (or, Katie & Alexis as they are known to my sister) are just that. They craft wristware out of everything from brushed metal nuggets to swarovski crystals and are open to creating something that is uniquely you. I'm particularly smitten with the Nuggets line.

If you are interested in viewing more of their work or placing an order, visit their facebook page or email Lex & Berg at lexandbergwristware@gmail.com
