Scott + Jeanie's Kelowna Wedding

My love for the Adrians is no secret. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Jon + Jenny and watch their photography style evolve since meeting them in 2009. We always have a great time working together so when the opportunity to help execute the wedding of Jenny’s brother Scott and his beautiful bride-to-be Jeanie arose I jumped at the chance.

Jeanie, a natural event planner and stylist, pulled together a lovely collection of hand-assembled projects. The overall aesthetic was tailored + pretty with the perfect amount of vintage appeal.

Here are a few sneak peak, behind-the-scenes shots of the ceremony at Benvoulin Church and reception at Hotel Eldorado.

Congratulations, Scott + Jeanie! What an honour it was to share in your special day.

At the end of the night, the bride threw her bouquet off the balcony which was an awesome idea in theory; however, none of the single ladies so much as flinched when the beautiful bouquet came tumbling down making the entire ordeal rather anti-climatic (and altogether hilarious).

Featured on Style Me Pretty

Our wedding was featured on Style Me Pretty Canada yesterday, which – to someone who has followed the blog since 2008 – is a big deal. I’m basking in the glow that is C Star Events’ first official “feature” and the memories that these happy photos bring me. Our vendors collectively facilitated the most perfect day.  Thanks, team.

I'm back.

I feel like I haven’t blogged in a year.  Well.  I guess that’s partly true.

Life has been insanely busy and blogging has taken a back seat for the past six months. If you’re reading this it means I still have a follower and for that I am grateful. This blog and I have shared a tumultuous journey.

When I started blogging back in 2008 I vowed to never post for the sake of posting. Although I had ambitions to churn out daily content, I never wanted to sacrifice quality for quantity. I’m the first to admit my early posts are juvenile and - in some cases – pointless. That being said, I cherish these silly blogging experiments which have brought me to where I am today: married, 27, working full time for a great employer, and freelancing as a wedding planner and designer in my spare time. Although I’ve been away from the blog for several months, I’ve spent a lot of time contemplating how I want to shape this corner of the internet and how I can integrate the experiences I’ve acquired thorough blogging trial and error to make it my own.  More original content, less fluff.  More present, less missing in action. You know the drill... it's coming

I truly appreciate the support I’ve received from friends old and new and the relationships I’ve formed with the people I’ve met through the blog itself. I can’t wait for what’s to come.

xo,

C.

M & J, July 14, 2012

Today Marlyse & Justin are getting hitched at Cedar Creek winery, surrounded by their friends and family, overlooking the gorgeous Okanagan Lake.

It has been my absolute pleasure to get to know them over the last few months and I wish them a life full of the happiness they exude every day.  Now it's time to party!

Cheers to the Weekend!

So there went another week with no blog posts. Apologies for being MIA. Here's the rundown on where I've been & what I've been up to in the last seven days...

Last weekend my sister turned a year older; I was lucky enough to share her birthday with her when she visited with two of my favourite people, Jen & Angie. We had a wonderful weekend full of cooking, crafting, drinking, and extensive hair tutorials (my friends are talented multi-taskers).

I had the opportunity to work on a fabulous side project in Kelowna with some amazing, talented, people. I promise there will be more to come closer to the release of the final product. In the meantime you can pop on over to the C Star Events Facebook page for a hint or two. Hint: it involves these two ladies.

Up next: I'm heading to Vancouver for a girl's weekend of shopping, pedicuring, and bridal showering. I can't wait to see my very favourite women and enjoy my first official 'bridal' activity.

I hope your weekend is full of fun. Check back next week for updates on the wedding planning process, craft projects, and the like.

on falling, gracefully...

It was a weekend of movement.  Ben and I travelled to Kelowna on Saturday so I could meet with a fabulous couple at their wedding venue and finalize the details of their July nuptials (so excited to share more on this) and we walked with the Daoust Nuts in the Kamloops MS Walk on Sunday!  Meanwhile, in Vancouver, my run-forest-run sister ran the BMo Marathon in under 4 hours. No big deal.

Ben and I took Bauer for a hike at our favourite park on Sunday afternoon and I proceeded to scrape up my leg and then slide/ trip/ stagger before rolling my (previously injured) ankle.  5 minutes later.  Thank goodness my dress is long.

I have several awesome posts lined up for this week so pop back over.  In the meantime, if you need me, I'll be in bed with an elevated & iced ankle.

on the run.

Welcome, August!

Wow. It's August.

I want to pump the breaks on summer because it just started flying by and I have more things on my to do lists than time to do them, it seems. On that note, isn't this a rad print?! So bang on!

Anyhow, as time marches on, I'm back at work today after a wonderful weekend spent with beautiful people (including my dear mum who came to visit). I had a ball. Best long weekend ever.

What did you do over the long weekend?

. . .

Did you know that you can 'like' c star events on facebook, pin with me on pintrest, and tweet with me on twitter? Well you can. Come join the party if you haven't done so, already!

Please excuse the mess...

... I'm in the process of redesigning my blog.

Things will be missing, misplaced + messy for a while but I'm hoping to have this place looking fantastic by the end of the week. (*Key word: hoping). Many thanks to this lady who has tirelessly worked her design magic. I cannot wait to unveil it. Stay tuned...

PS: All things Keri Smith are amazing. Especially this book. and this one.

Brace yourselves.

It's about to get messy...

... and then beautiful.

My blog is getting a facelift and an organization overhaul. Is there anything you'd like to see more of? Less of?

Happy Christmas Eve Eve

Wow. Where did this week go? There were so many things I wanted to post before Christmas and I'm almost out of time. The last few days have been spent cleaning, baking, packing, wrapping, and shopping in anticipation of our trip down to Vancouver today!

If I don't make it back to blogland before the twenty-fifth, I want to take a moment to say that I hope you all have a happy and safe Christmas. I am so thrilled with where my blog journey has taken me over the last year and I am so luck to have met some fantastic people. I appreciate all of your support - those that know me personally and those who read the blog on occasion. Your comments and emails put a smile on my face daily.

Happy Christmas, all.

With Love,

C.

Guest Posts + Big Love.

Psst... I was given the opportunity to write two holiday guest posts for one of my favourite blogs: The Anthology. (I'm over the moon).

Check out posts one + two.

I have to extend a larger-than-life thank you to the ever-fashionable, ever-eloquent, Kelsey. I highly suggest you follow her blog and while you're at it, check her out on twitter.

Happy Friday, all.
